ASF's extended hiatus

Hello loyal readers,

It's clear that we haven't posted any content in quite a while - this has been partly due to time commitments, schooling, insufficient funds and other problems that can hamper teenage bloggers. However, Aussie Sports Fan isn't dead - not by a long way - and we like to call this an 'extended hiatus'. Trust us when we say that the ASF brand won't go away. What time we resume posting regularly, we're not entirely sure, but one thing's for sure - you haven't seen the last of Aussie Sports Fan.

Top 10 Greatest AFL Marks of All Time

Discussing the plethora of spectacular marks taken in the history of the VFL/AFL and ordering them into a list often generates plenty of debate from supporters who claim that they seem to have a definitive idea of whose grab is best. While this ASF Countdown doesn't aim to settle everything once and for all, as these lists are always based on opinion, it gives a fair crack at naming the very best ten based on spectacularness and degree of difficulty. Therefore, Leo Barry and Brendon Goddard don't get a guernsey in this list as while the timing of their grabs was nothing less than perfect, they don't squeeze into our top ten best marks.

How racial vilification just won't go away

The issue of racism in football has reared its ugly head again yesterday with Western Bulldogs player Justin Sherman admitting to racially vilifying Gold Coast youngster Joel Wilkinson in their match on Saturday. While this has been recognised as the first on-field racial slur since 1999, there have no doubt been many more offences which have gone unheard. It is a blight on society that in this day and age, players in a professional environment can still choose to publicly degrade someone based on the colour of their skin.
